WALKER OUT FOR SEASON?

Ken Export EXCLUSIVE!!!  Sunday, January 13, 2002  20:13 GMT

KRISTIAN WALKER FACING SEASON ON SIDELINES

Plant striker Kristian Walker will learn this week whether his season is over. Kris will visit a specialist on Tuesday this week at Bradford Royal Infirmary and it is expected he will be told to rest his injured shin for three months in a hope that it settles down and he can work through the close season rebuilding his fitness and come back next season a stronger and fitter player.
Walker said at Park Street today ' Obviously I am bitterly disappointed the way this season is going but I've tried to come back a couple of times but it hurts everytime I try to kick it, and I feel that only a long period of rest will retify the injury'.
It was also revealed today by Brekke Legg that Martin Close could be out for up to three weeks with the knee injury he picked up in training on Saturday morning. Legg said ' Obviously the injury is in its early stages and the swelling needs to go down but he will definitely miss next sundays game and is a serious doubt for the trip to Fox and Pheasant.
The Close injury is a particular blow as Mike Clayton is also out for the next two matches as his Wedding bands are being read out in church so he has to attend each time.
