PARKER IN KNOB QUIT SHOCKEREXCLUSIVE Thursday, January 10, 2002 18:17 GMT
CLUB COMES TO MUTUAL DECISION ON EGG FUTURE
Plant Director of Football Dave Woodhead today announced that Plant squad member Richard Parker had retired from Sunday morning football after a training injury on Tuesday.
Many Plant fans will not have seen much of Richard 'Egg ' Parker as his appearances have been limited, he has only made one brief appearance this season in the cup tie against Bangladeshi Youth and was hauled off at half time by stand in boss Ted Grant.
It is believed that he took a hefty blow in the groin area believed to have caught him right on the tip of his knob in an challenge with George Grant and this injury has forced him to retire. Plant are believed to be honouring the players contract which expires at the end of June this year but he will leave the club with immediate effect.
Woodhead said 'You have to feel for the boy but the blow he recieved is too much for 'Egg' to continue on Sunday mornings and both the player and the club have come to a mutual decision.
