Blue's destroy Top of the table Whites

Chris Webb  Sunday, January 27, 2002  21:34 GMT

Bridlington Town Blue’s 6 Bridlington Town Whites 2

Town Blues totally dominated this top of the table clash in the under 11’s league destroying in the process Town Whites 14 game (League) unbeaten run.

Starting the brightest the Blue’s dominated the first 5 minutes before James Webb slotted home the first of his 4 goals.

The Blue’s goal seemed to stir the Whites into action and after pressing forward against the run of play they were rewarded with an equaliser.

Nathan Cunningham was becoming a threat to the Whites every time the Blue’s pressed forward and with Joshua Job and Jacob day supplying balls through the middle at a rapid pace it was only a matter of time before the Blue’s increased their lead.

The second goal came courtesy of Cunningham who fed the ball through to Job who in turn threaded the ball past the stranded Whites keeper for Webb to score his second of the game.

10 Minutes from the end of the first half Danny Robson was introduced to the game and immediately had an impact latching on to a through ball he narrowly missed the Whites net.

Throughout the first half Rob Scott and Grant Dowson were superb in the Blue’s defence complemented by Sam Stanhope in the Blue’s goal.

The second half was a repeat of the first with the Blue’s dominating all area’s of the game and following some neat play from Job on the left Cunningham received the ball and turned leaving the Whites defence stranded to slot the ball past the Whites keeper.

From the restart the Blue’s again found possession of the ball with Webb letting fly from 20 yards through the keepers legs for his hat-trick and the Blue’s forth.

The Blue’s then stood off the ball and allowed the Whites to score a second goal half way through the second half.

Jacob Day for the Blue’s was back to his early season form running at players and teasing his way down the right wing.

From one of Day’s many runs he passed the ball through to Cunningham who in turn found Job on the left, Job slotted the ball between the Whites defence to find Webb who was unmarked and who duly turned and slammed the ball past the helpless keeper.

Credit to the Whites who tried to get back into the game but with the Blue’s playing well as individuals as well as a team it was a very one-sided match rounded off in true style by Day who unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards that the Whites keeper could not hold on to-days first and the Blue’s sixth.

This was a team performance in every sense of the word which deservedly put the Blue’s back on top of the under 11’s league.

Blue’s man of the match-Robert Scott for outstanding defending.
