Solid performance from Rep side

Paul Quinn  Friday, March 08, 2002  18:32 GMT

Huudersfield Under 18 Bupa Representative side took on the unbeaten West Riding on thursday and came out of the game with their heads held high in a 3-2 defeat at the impressive Woodlesford.
Three Irish Centre players made the starting eleven Quinn at right back, Keady at centre half, and Tattersley at centre midfield.  Clarke and Bell also had a fair share of an action packed match.  It was underdogs Huddersfield that took the lead through Hepworths James Mwale' deflected shot.  West Riding playing some silky football piled the pressure on Huddersfield although it was Huddersfield that could have gone futher ahead.  West Riding continued to push forward and as Helliwell put fresh legs onto a huge field the score changed dramatically to 3-1.
Although Huddersfeild were being far from outplayed and made it 3-2 ten minutes from time and could have at least equalised if for more cutting edge to their finishing.  Greg Davies (Hepworth) and Dean Syke' (Meltham) both came close.  Well done to all those involved from all the teams in the league.
