 THE KEY BATTLES

During tomorrows match it is hard to single out any players in particular but here is a few of the key battles which look set to take place.

 FERDINAND  v  RONALDO 

Ferdinand has been one of England's key figures in this World Cup campaign and will be required to turn in another massive performance to keep a tight rein on one of the worlds most gifted footballer.

Horrendous injuries have restricted Ronaldo to so little football in the last few years and is looking to set the world alight as he did before the previous World cup.  He is currently joint top scorer in the World Cup.

 OWEN  v  EDMILSON

Brazil may be dynamite going forward, but there is huge realisation that their rearguard is a long way from safe.  The Brazil rearguard all love to surge forward and this could prove vital as Michael Owen will revel in the space left for him.

Owen has only managed to hit the back of the net once in the tournament, and will be hoping to add to that tally and see England progress tomorrow. 

 BECKHAM  v  CARLOS

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has singled out David Beckham as England's potential match winner.  Beckham, who has been a solid performer, will need to perform better in order to keep out the adventurous Roberto Carlos.  Beckham will need to pin Carlos back and stop him making his dangerous attack on the opposing full backs.

Danny Mills will also have to be focused on the threat of Carlos flying down the same flank.  Both Beckham and Carlos are dead-ball specialists and Carlos has been quoted in the press, that he would "Love it if he could bend it like Beckham."  Will this play a key part in tomorrow's match?
