Match Report: Somerset 45 Trelawny 45Graham Hambly Sunday, April 07, 2002 09:56 GMT
TRELAWNY continued their impressive start to the season by taking a point from an exciting draw away to West Country rivals Somerset in the Premier Trophy last night.
The JAG Tigers took the early initiative with a 5-1 from reserves Richard Wolff and Simon Phillips in the second heat.
They piled up a six-point advantage after another 5-1 from skipper Seemond Stephens and Pavel Ondrasik in heat five.
The Profile Rebels hit back in the next race, however, with a maximum from Mario Jirout and David Meldrum after Trelawny ace Chris Harris dropped out with mechanical failure.
It remained a closely contested match from that stage with Somerset nosing in front after heat 10, only for Trelawny to level with a 4-2 from Stephens and Ondrasik in heat 11.
The final four races were drawn to leave honours even and set up what promises to be a keenly fought return match at the Clay Country Moto Parc on Tuesday evening.
It has been confirmed that the meeting will go ahead on the usual race night.
