Makel to reunite with Jeffries

Adam Bell  Wednesday, June 13, 2001  08:00 GMT

Hearts midfielder Lee Makel is being linked with a surprise move to Valley Parade after Hearts failed to offer him a new deal.
The Tynecastle club either could not or would not agree renewed terms with the player who is out of contract at the end of the month.
Jefferies is well aware of the potential Makel has, having signed him during his time at Tynecastle, while the player himself is no stranger to West Yorkshire having enjoyed a spell with Huddersfield Town. He has also played with Blackburn and Newcastle and is renowned for his passing ability.
Makel finished last season with a string of impressive performances for Hearts and he could now be ready to join The Bantams on a Bosman free transfer.
His agent has confirmed that City are interested in landing Makel, who is also being tracked by Wolves.
