Southend United Home Page WELCOME TO SOUTHEND UNITED'S IN THE TEAM! Choose the Links for: Regular news, division 3 league table, match reports player profiles and much more ------ ------ Southend United, the pride of Essex's footballing world. Southend, otherwise known as the Shrimpers, play at the Roots Hall Stadium in the Seaside town of Southend-on-sea in South-east Essex Over the years we've seen some great talent walk on the turfs of Roots Hall since their forming in 1905, including recently the likes of, Stan Collymore and Chris Powell, who have since moved on to play premiership football and earn caps for the English national side. The blues are currently, sadly in the 3rd divison after having spells in divison 1 during the 90's As well as great players, weve also had some legendaryfigures as managers, with the likes of the late world cup great Bobby Moore, and Irish great Ronnie Whelan. Not forgetting the legend Barry Fry! The current squad contains a lot of fresh young faces, and manager Dave Webb is clearly looking to the future with the likes of son Daniel Webb, Leon Johnson, David Lee and the upcoming goalkeeper Darryl Flahaven I aim to give frequent match reports and news, with profiles on all squad members etc, once i have had time to get up and running.
