Whatever Happend To

 WHITE NOTLEY?

In 1999 they were about to start on a league campaign that would see them finish third in the Colchester and District League. Now they are Struggling against the likes of Feering. It's all gone wrong at Oak Farm - Why?

Interview: Steven King

I speak to Neil Daines on a cold Thursday afternoon at the Witham Road Recreation Ground.  Daines is busy doing some drawing on the Black Notley Dressing Room step when I meet him. "I doing some training exercises for tonight...." states Daines, "Don't know why I'm bothering we will probably end up having a match anyway."
In the pre-season David Banks, Richard Collins, Dean Yates, Matt Hayes and Tony Abbott have all left, having previously been the heart of the team.

"I have some new players now and I can finally build a team in a new image." Sadly For Neil, I don't think he wanted the image he has created. " It's all about confidence, and after our 1-1 draw with Wimpole we needed to build on that, but I could not field the same team the following week." This is something that the manager has had to cope with. 5 goal in just under 10 matches and it really is depressing stuff at Oak Farm, so much so that the manager thought of packing it in? "Yeah that crossed my mind. I said give it to Christmas and see where we were. We lost 11-0 the game before Christmas and I was about to throw in the towel." So the question I put to him is why not let someone else have a go? "I've been in Charge for Two and a bit seasons now and I'd like to see the age group through now." "Win, Lose or Draw because I said when I took over I would like to do the three seasons." That looks exactly what Neil will do and who knows what is in store for the Orange And Blacks Come the Summer?
