Event The Big Match: U17s Cup Final - Huddersfield Irish Centre v Osset Town
Details In their debut season the IC have surpassed all expectations to reach the final of the U17s Cup. The game is undoubtedly the biggest game that the bhoyys have played in since the Schools Cup Final last April, held at the McAlpine, which they ended up runners-up. However, manager Chris Helliwell and assistant Tony Tomlinson will be hoping for an altogether different result as they come up against the odds-on favourites and runaway leaders of the 1st Division, Ossett Town. Ossett were victorious in their semi-final against Drighlington whilst IC beat of competition from Cumberworth, after beating arch-rivals Meltham and Beacon in earlier rounds. Helliwell will also be hoping to have the experienced leader Paul Quinn back to full fitness in time for the final, as the IC will need to have a full squad and at full fitness if they are to overcome the unbeaten Ossett. In the lead up to the game Helliwell is expected to give the bhoys an alcohol ban of TWO weeks before necking TWO pints in the IC meeting room, after the lads performed well due to the ban before the semi-final. The two finalists will meet before the final in a league meeting, though no date has been set for this match.
For a full build-up to the biggest match in the history of the IC check out Giggsy's Dinner which will be running up-to-date stories, profiles, interviews and news leading up to the final.
