TREMENDOUS ORTON ARE TABLETOPPERS WITH MASSIVE WINMatch Report Monday, April 29, 2002 09:29 GMT
Thatcher the hero with two goals and captain's performance
A last minute free-kick from Paul Thatcher capped a marvellous display from the lions of Water Orton as they beat old enemies St Marys to leapfrog them at the top of the table. Missing five players from the first team line-up, Orton called on all their resolve to overcome their opponents and although the winning goal came so late on it was no less than Rangers deserved in a truely spirited performance which saw them overwhelm St Marys. It means that three points from two games against Halfway and St George will see Orton champions.
