Parade day win for battling Huddlers
Huddersfield Irish Centre booked their place in the cup final with a battling performance on a mud bath of a pitch during some of the worse weather conditions of the season. They now face Meltham in a showdown at Zeneca.
Linthwaite turned up in a determined mood and Irish Centre had to be on their game straight from the start. It was the Bhoys who tok the lead after 19 minutes through Adam Bell although the response from Linthwaite was rapid scoring from a corner after 22 minutes. Then came a blow for Linthwaite with their goalkeeper clashing with one of his own defenders and ending up with a suspected broken leg.
Irish Centre had a few good opportunities and really should have gone ahead earlier, but it wasnt till the 59th minute when Alex Kalinowski scored from 25 yards to give the Irish Centre the lead, then Adam Bell claimed his second goal that the Huddlers to put the game beyond Linthwaite. However they did manage to grab a late late goal and it was not to deny a second consecutive cup final.
Meltham beat Hepworth in the other semi-final 2-0 in a comfortable win to set up a potentially thrilling Final, date to be announced.
Team was: Shanahan, Clarke, Helliwell, Quinn, Keady, Wood, Kalinowski (O'Donnell), Chatten(Gubbini), Tattersley, Kitterick, Bell. Subs not used: Buggy, Lunn, McGowan and Davies.
