Capel B went into this fixture against 4th placed Knodishall full of confidence and needing at least a point in order that a win next week against Bourne Vale should decide who finishes 2nd in the league. (Assuming that Bourne do not beat Warriors)
Our biggest problem was that our first choice keeper Liam Knock was unavailable and other replacements were inexperienced. The manager opted for Joseph and replacing him in midfield. Colts started the strongest and soon found ourselves dominating the early part of the game. Chances were few and found their keeper in good form. 15 minutes into the game Knodishall pushed forward and with their first clear chance shot them into the lead. Almost immediately Joseph was brought out of goal, replaced and after changing into kit took his usual place in midfield. The delay somehow upset the opposition's supporters!! Colts manager remained cool!! within a couple of minutes of the substitution a good move on the left with Beck and Adam pushing forward the ball came to James Hart in the box who knocked the ball over the line for 1-1. Colts manager celebrated as Knodishall went quiet. The second half was very even with the focus on Knodishall's smallest player at 3ft nothing win every header from a capels throw-in's. Capel kept on pushing forward but made sure that cover was always on at the back for any breakaways. 2 minutes from time the icing was on the cake when Adam picked up a ball in midfield pushed forward and unleashed a great shot from outside the box which whistled passed their keeper into the net. More celebrations on the touch line. At the final whistle colts had recorded a great victory 2-1 having come from a goal behind. Just need to do the same next week against Bourne.
