East Yorkshire League Under 10’s 1-Day Tournament

Bridlington Town Juniors entered 2 teams (Blues and Whites) in the above tournament held at Bridlington Town AFC ground on Sunday 22nd April.

Teams from 15 clubs in the under 10’s league entered the tournament run on the basis of 3 leagues of 5 teams with all 5 playing each other with the winner of each league and best runner up from the 3 leagues progressing to the semi-finals.

Drawn in the same league the Whites unfortunately could not progress further with only 4 draws from their 4 games.

The Blues on the other hand won 2 and drew 2 progressing to the semi-finals where they came up against Hunmanby.

Starting the brightest the Blues were soon in control but could not find the back of the Hunmanby net.

At full time the score was level (0-0) so extra time beckoned.

Controlling the first half of extra time the Blues had several chances before Nathan Cunningham broke through the Hunmanby defence and slotted home the Blues first goal.

Continuing from the kick off the Blues again were in full control and when Paul Lockwood broke down the left and cut in between the Hunmanby defence to score the Blue’s second the game was all but over.

Full time came and the Blue’s were in their first final.

Playing Hutton Cranswick ‘A’ in the final was never going to be easy and despite giving there all the Blue’s were eventually beaten 2-0.

This is the first season Bridlington Town juniors have being together and with the White’s and Blue’s holding 4th and 5th position in the league and now with the Blue’s reaching the final of this tournament the players are a credit to all concerned.

Blue’s team that reached the final-James Webb (Captain) Robert Scott, Grant Dowson, Sam Stanhope, Nathan Cunningham, Paul Lockwood, Jacob Day, Joshua Job, Emily Stanhope and Danny Porter.
