U/8's Presentation Evening NewsGC Saturday, May 25, 2002 16:49 GMT
The U/8's had their award evening a little earlier than the rest of the LOASS teams and a fine night it was too.
In front of a packed house and to the sound of thunderous applause and parents cameras flashing each one of our U/8's players climbed the stage to receive their well earned team player trophy.
We asked each of our teams parents and players to make the difficult choice of who should receive our special awards. The White teams Players Player of the Year was George Cole who proved not only to be a wonderful defender but also a prolific goalscorer. The White teams Parents Player of the Year proved to be a tough decision and in the end the votes were tied so both Bradley Cleveland and Tom Cope received this well deserved honour.
The Blues Players Player of the Year was the outstanding Alex Gordon who has shown tremendous skill and attitude throughout the season and the Blues Parents Player of the Year was Billy Densham a player who has dazzled the crowds with his fantastic dribbling skills.
There was also a special award made to the highest goalscorer amongst all the age groups and we are proud to say that this went to one of our U/8's player, Jamal Willer. The award was richly deserved as Jamal had scored a staggering 53 throughout the season.
Well done to all the U/8's players on what has been a truly wonderful season. Long may we continue to play the game the way it was meant to be played, with skill and passion but most of all with a smile on our faces.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my co-manager Ross Embleton and all of our parents for all their help and support throughout the season, it was very much appreciated.
