U12 'SHAMROCK' LOSE SEMI-FINAL ON PENALTIES
EDITOR  Sunday, June 09, 2002  19:34 GMT

What a cracking day for the U12 'Shamrock'.  After progressing whilst in truth in low gear, Steven Haggerty pulled off many saves to keep a clean sheet in the Group matches.  Marcus Sprawling hit an unstoppable shot against Firebirds in a 2-0 win, with Jack Pridmore setting up the industrious Richard Bray. There was superb performances all round, with James Schultz cracking home the winner against Blackshots setting the boys a runners up spot and place in the Semi-Final.  Before this match took place, the boys had hit a higher gear, Luke Owers, Dane Revell and an impressive Jack Schmid harrassed and passed around the opposition, and defended as well as attacked.  The whole outfit deserved their place and entered the Semi-Final against the unbeaten South East England schoolboys, in fact, the first side to score against them was our other side Gallow United 'Celtic'.  SEMI FINAL: The 'Shamrock' had no respect for their expected tournament winners opposition and set about them with clearances lobbed anywhere to prevent 'Shamrock' taking the lead.  The England boys disgraced their kit with leg breaking tackles the only answer to the skill of Gallow United.  One player took a dive and injured himself without contact of ball or player?  The Ref, deep in conversation with the England Manager before the game, was so bias in decisions that the match drew players and crowds as it seemed their arrogant atttitude was coming to an end, exposed by skillful football of Gallow United.  A complete fluke saw England take the lead, and they tried all sorts of deception and injury feighning to tick away the seconds.  James Schultz, superbly set up raced on one against one and the Ref blew for halftime with 15 seconds remaining.  The second half saw desperate England defending as the 'Gallow' boys applied pressure..no team had tested England before, despite influencing of the ref by the England Manager and Coaches, Richard Bray shot from an accute angle to level the score. Extra time of 2 minutes each way was played following the same pattern, Richard Bray danced around the England defence to fire home a goal at 1 minute 30seconds, but the ref disallowed it saying 2 minutes were up? Many more people watching booed the ref and began chanting "fix"..PENALTIES: Penalties were equal, and Dane Revell slotted home a perfect penalty after the Ref said "alright" to take the penalty, the England Manager shouted out the Ref had not blown hiswhistle, the goal disallowed?  No surprise under pressure! The crowd was getting angry at the obvious blatant bias and teams began cheering the Gallow United. On our next penalty, Marcus Sprawlings was kept waiting 4 minutes by the Ref?  England went through on penalties!  The crowd booed, teams and parents of all ages attending the tournament.  On leaving, it took me half hour to reach the car through people wanting to shake my hand saying "you were cheated out of this" and that I should make a complaint.  Whats the use! Football lost, andso will Chelmsford City next year according to at least 15 managers ande sets of Parents cheering our boys and sayting they will not return after what they had seen..To the so-called England team?  If that is howyou have to win..God help English Football.  As a connection scout with West Ham, Leyton Orient and others..You were breaking law wearing England kits anyhow?  My boys left in tears, hard work for nothing..Young footballers in tears..and worse..the side England beat in the final..we beat 2-0!  Well done boys, you are true sportsman Gallow United!
U12 CELTIC SHOW WARRIOR SPIRIT!
EDITOR  Sunday, June 09, 2002  19:32 GMT

The 'Celtic' were magnificent......Their group contained 2 of the fancied sides in Euro Dagenham and the South East England U12's.  Goals from Ashley Hogg, Danny Cooper, and Michael Perry were smashed in from the lads as they  gave their all in a well balanced side.  Joshua Ross fought for everything and Tim Read (player of the Tournament) bravely and with skill kept goal.   The crowd were willing the ball to cross the line from Danny Marshall who shone throughout and desperately seeks his season's first goal. He was so close so many times!  Keep going Danny..it WILL come.  Daniel Symes was suffering Hay Fever which put him out of 2 matches, but under the direction of Assistant Manager Karl Ringer, Daniel gave his all for his team-mates.  Michael Perry ever improving caused havoc amongst the opponents and with a little luck on theirside the 'Celtic' would of progressed.  Karl Ringer did an excellent job first time in charge as Assistant..And found out the Managers curse (lost voice)!  I think it is totally unfair to detract from the excellent team spirit and play the boys gave, they deserve better than the moaning about who should and should not be on which 6-a-side team...it is easy to criticise and with Karl taking hisfirst matches, totally out of order and detrimental to what was a well balanced side!  If I had heard comments I would of asked those parents to take their players home!!..It is in the Club Constitution sanctioned by the FA, that NO CRITICISM on team selection is allowed...Not all are to blame, but it is amazing how many 'Managers' come out of the woodwork that do not want the job full time! NO OTHER CLUB DOES DIFFERENT THAN THIS CLUB IN SELECTION AND ANY PERSON IS WELCOME TO JOIN ANOTHER IF NOT HAPPY!!..I can't believe that detrimental remarks are passed around during matches which are detrimental to players who hear thinking they are not good enough, and especially while they are playing!  I think 'Celtic' were great and I'm proud of them, as Karl is, they claimed the scalp of the first goal against SE England.  They gave their all against good sides, they are a good side,  and they are wonderful kids..Well done boys! Their was applause from watching sides and parents of other teams..you are fantastic!
U10's Play with Pride and Passion!
Editor  Sunday, June 09, 2002  19:01 GMT

Watch out for these sides next season as they enter 11-a-side football.  Both Panthers and Lions were placed in tough groups.  Needless to say, they wore their shirts with pride and made sure the gap between them and the group winners was not a vast one.  I saw some of these matches and the players certainly did Ian, Dave and Eddie proud as they played some neat football.   Jamie Marshall pulled off some fine saves, Oliver Devenish deadly, the Markwell's, Joanne Giggs, Matt Green, Eddie Simpkins, Billy Sutton, Callum.and the other players too many to mention, ALL stood out as very fine players with a good season ahead.  It would be my bet that these sides do well in the next tournament with today under their belt...I can honestly say not one single player seemed outplayed!...Sorry to names not mentioned but I MEAN it saying you were all superb!
BRILLIANT FIRST TOURNAMENT FOR U7's
Editor  Sunday, June 09, 2002  18:49 GMT

Wow!....what a start for the team in their first tournament.  All the hard work and training by coaches Ian and Jason was waiting like a cannon to fire as soon as they entered their first competition.  After a wonderful introduction to competetive football against our friends Leyton Orient FC the players arrived as the 'little ones', but left Chelmsford City as giants of this age group. It was not only their M&G Sponsored new kits that shone as they progressed through their group to earn a semi-final spot, with each and every player giving 100% to thrill the onlookers, parents, guardians and proud staff.  It took a resilient and slightly more experienced Wilvale Rangers to end the fantastic run of the Gallow United team.  Player-of-the Tournament...Every single U7 player..Well done U7's the club is proud of you!

LEYTON ORIENT COACHE'S VIEW ON SATURDAY
EDITOR  Saturday, May 18, 2002  22:27 GMT

Tonight I got 2 calls, One Steven Embleton running O's U12 and the top man Grant Cornwell. Speaking on behalf of reports from Nick and Ross regarding our club and the teams today, with those that visited before. As far as they are concerned, we are the most thought about Sunday Club.  We are not route one, and we are worthy opponents to be their first call Sunday Football Club, and there are very few,  that can test their players and "give them a game" That is some compliment!  They hope we do not, as they do not, consider any scorelines but learn as they do in matches against us to play the 'real-game'  Grant offered, that any parents wishing to take their kids or a group to train at the advanced school are welcome.  Let me know and it can be arranged.  They want a permanent friendship with us, Gallow United, and will assist oursides in any way.  They hope we go down much more, and want to visit us to play age groups.  In fact, they want me to arrange a U7 match ASAP.  So well done all coaches and Managers, the players and Parents.  This is a great benefit and honour for our club.  UP THE OS!  UP THE GALLOW!
MY WONDERFUL BOYS EARN PRAISE FROM O's
EDITOR  Saturday, May 18, 2002  22:10 GMT

If I was told we were to lose 6 or 7-1 today I would of been happy. The opposition was top class, one of the best at O's at that age group.  Today those players were playing for places and HAD to perform and get an expected score margin seperating Advanced Professional Football from Sunday Football.  They set about training while we were travelling because of the scare we gave them last time.  We lost 9-1, still lower than many of their side's Championship winning triumphs.  Although, I know we were guilty of ball-watching at times, and gave a couple away, in perspective, I am proud of every boy. We even took the lead, much deserved, a great move, unselfish play from Jack.P when most kids would of drove home the goal. and had them on the back foot in the first stages.  The ball-passing of the O's was superb, but I was a little unhappy with allowing players to run with the ball, communication, awareness, and the loss of our formation so well executed in some great results preceding this game. But there is no shame..we are on the right track. Bluntly, a couple of areas need polishing before we become the side I know we can be.  Steven pulled off some fine saves, was helped by the woodwork, and the O's were rattled after the first 20.  Nayim, was more than a few times left marking 3 and done well, Luke again fast improving and does not commit himself with poor timing, Michael was carrying an injury but tried to play honest, Tim was slightly off key to standards he had set himself, but worked in some good tackles, Joshua was fine but seemed bothered about something, Danny Marshall woke up in the last 2 periods and used his strength and had a great game, Dane was on form in all areas but drifted at times, Danny C and Jack P tried to get moves going with the latter forcing a fine save. Marcus was an inspiration, and I was delighted with the attitude and touches of James. Jack Schmid forced to play the lone role held up and laid off great touches, Daniel, settled in well for a new player. A couple of times basic technique let us down, communication at the back lacking and someone MUST take control there!  Overall, a lesson learnt and the object achieved.  We can emulate the passing no problems, just be quicker, and need to not be knocked off the ball so easily. At times we seemed to admire more than compete...BUT..I am not worried, I rate them all and know with no other physical distractions and a little more finess, there is a very good side lurking within these boys.  I am damn proud of every one of them!  I would and will give all my time to achieving what is in our grasp!  YOU ALL ARE THE TOPS LADS!  (READ LEYTON ORIENT COACHES COMMENTS) Thanks for letting me have the priviledge of Managing you all.
