Farndon go down 3-1 to Champions elect New InnDave Bennett Monday, March 26, 2001 15:41 GMT
Farndon lost 3-1 on Sunday against the best team they have certainly played this season in New Inn F.C. The team had some key players missing in Issott,Lewis & Cresswell but gave a good account of themselves against class opposition. The first half belonged to New Inn , Matt Jarman playing against his old club causing plenty of problems for the Farndon team, and at the interval New Inn were 2-0 up. The begining of the second half was Farndon best period. Jarman left the field of play and New Inn did not look the same outfit. From a Farndon free kick 'Rooster'Richardson ghosted in to flick on a header past the stranded New Inn keeper to make the game 2-1. Shortly after New Inn thought they had scored again when a Briggs shot was cleared on the line. Despite verbal abuse to the Farndon Linesman to which the referee took no action the game continued with Briggs taking his frustration out on a Farndon player as they lay on the floor, directing a kick to the chest and chin of Barratt. New Inn added a third in the last quarter of the match. 'Stern' Cobb replaced Goodrick at half time along with Dave Marshall as the Reserves game had been cancelled due to lack of players.
