Welcome again to another week!
Well, the Club are now out of the County Cup after we lost away to Morley Spurs at the weekend. Despite the disappointment of exiting the Cup at the Quarter Final stage, I'm pretty satisfied with the way the team performed.
We were unfortunate to catch Morley Spurs on a very good day. They went three goals up before half time, and played some excellent football. However, I am extremely pleased by the way my players responded in the second alf of the match. Despite the disappointment of being three goals down, heads never sunk and nobody hid. Instead, all eleven players went into the second half determined to make a mark on the ame and they did. We played some excellent football in that half and more than matched Morley. Unfortunately we were unable to score, despite creating numerous chances and having a goal disallowed.
I want to state that I think the players have come a long way since we last played Morley Spurs. Last September, we were dreadful against them and suffered a ver heavy defeat. Despite the scoreline last Sunday (4v0), our performance was ten times better. It would be interesting to see how the team that played last Sunday would fair against the team that played against Morley last September. I know that a few players from September have left te club, and we now have a number of new players, but the nucleus of the team is still there. It would be a fair bet that the team that we have now would beat te September team by quite a margin.
This is not a criticism of the September team for as I have already said, the nucleus of the team is still there. It is infact a compliment to those players for having the desire to improve through hard work in training. All of them ave become better players. I am also of the opinion that all the players now at the Club want to improve and test themselves further. In my opinion, this is an excellent attitude to have and I'm pleased to be managing such a good group of players.
We go into the weekend without a fixture. A chance to recharge our batteries before commencing with the League.
