High 5's for Green

Andy Desborough  Thursday, May 09, 2002  05:50 GMT

GREEN GO OUT IN STYLE

After a disorganised start to the day's proceedings, due to laid back / late opponents, Parsons Green were soon into their stride and regularly getting in behind the opposition defence.

However we were caught offside a number of times and had to be careful when timing both runs and passes.

David and Craig exchanged a neat one-two and the left winger was clear through on goal and he made no mistake with his finish. 1-0.

A few moments later a neat move down the right wing involving Ashley, Scott G and Craig saw Craig sprint clear to cross for David to tuck in at the far post. 2-0.

Scott B was getting a degree of space at right back that he was using well and James and Adam were well disciplined at the back.
James then found a little space after picking up a loose ball and slotted a great through ball to Craig who swept the ball past the stranded 'keeper.
3-0.

At half time Tommy Sheen replaced the un-troubled 'Munchie Rose.

Tom's pre-match preparation was unusual to say the least....cigarettes and alcohol!!

Holland Club were more determined after the break, but Scott G was winning headers and challenges that he had no right to.

This kept Parsons Green going forward and Craig's left wing break forced a corner which Andy Desborough knocked in for David to hit the bar. Ashley Kearney was fastest to the rebound and he headed an awkward ball into the roof of the net. 4-0.

Olaf's attacking instincts enabled him to get into a number of dangerous positions and his drilled cross/shot landed at Ashley's feet at the back post. He cut inside the full back and tucked the ball inside the near post. 5-0.

James had a half chance from a Daniel cross to break his duck, but never looked likely, and Craig's legitimate appeals for a penalty were ignored.

Holland Club won a dubious corner and an unmarked forward was able to head for goal, however Tom palmed the effort against the bar. They were quickest to react and nodded home the rebound. 5-1.

David had a header well saved by the 'keeper in the closing minutes and the referee soon blew time on the
game and Parsons Green's season.
