WORK PARTYJames Gaiger Monday, August 12, 2002 08:36 GMT
Last Sunday a work party meet at the club with the goal of turning the Chivers Ground into Twickenham.
Although they did not quite achieve this goal it wasn't for the want of trying. We now have a smart post and rail fence, which will tidy up the look of the ground, provide further opportunitys for sponsership and also keep unwanted vehicles off the pitch, mentioning no names (cricket club, cricket club, cricket club)
Whilst first team backrow players Chris Maundrell and Tim Alchin concentrated on the fence, the remainder of the party worked on the new pitch doing the various odds and ends of preparatory work.
A big thankyou to everyone who gave up there Sunday to help the club, it is fantastic to see so many players taking responsibiltiy for there club.
A extra big thankyou to Chris Maundrell who has worked incredibly hard on the pitch all summer and I don't think it has ever looked better. He will be asking for more help from the players in the near future and I'm sure they won't let him down.
