Latapy sacked by Hibs
City target Russell Latapy has been sacked by Hibernian following an all-day drinking binge with Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke.
The player hit the front page headlines in Scotland on Sunday for his day out with his international team-mate, which ended with the Hibs star being charged with a drink-driving offence by the Edinburgh police.
Hibs boss McLeish said after last night's draw with Hearts: "Russell won't play for the club again, but it had nothing to do with the alleged driving offences, this is purely a football decision.
"He never turned up for training on Friday and I had to take action for the good of the club.
"We also had reports that he was out all day Friday as well.
"It's a shame that it all had to end like this as Russell has been a great player for us - a fantastic player who has helped the club come a long way in a short time."
It remains to be seen whether Jim Jefferies makes a move for him, but he could be signed as a replacement for Benito Carbone if he moves on this summer.
