Boss admits Belgian striker raid
|
Jim Jefferies has admitted that City have been in talks with £500,000-rated Belgian striker Joris van Hout over a summer switch to Valley Parade.
As we revealed last week, the Bantams have been tracking the Mechelen frontman for a number of weeks now as they look to bolster their firepower ahead of next season.
Initially, Bradford officials played down talk of a raid for the 24-year-old, but now the City boss has come clean and admitted a deal could be on the cards.
Jefferies said: "Discussions have already taken place with his agent, but the lad is wanting to see what the situation is with his club at the end of the season.
"I think he is interested in coming to England, but we will have to hold further talks."
Van Hout has bagged seven goals for struggling Mechelen this season, scoring at the weekend against Beveren, and he could be a useful addition for City who, following a huge clear-out, now look set to begin bringing in new faces.
Meanwhile, City scouts were believed to be among a host of clubs, including Chelsea chief Claudio Ranieri, checking on Crewe's highly-rated striker Dean Ashton in their 3-3 draw at Wimbledon last night.
The 17-year-old hot-shot, who scored the equaliser for the Alex at Selhurst Park - his ninth goal in 10 starts, was linked with the Bantams earlier in the campaign.
