Lisa bends it like Beckham

Two second-half goals secured three points for Posh Ladies in their 2-0 victory over Stafford Rangers in the Midland Combination League.
Jemma Rees and a 20-yard Beckham style free-kick from Lisa White, pictured, ensured victory in a match dominated by Posh from start to finish.
The win ensured Midland Combination League status next season and jubilant manager Maria Rudd was pleased with her side’s result.
She said: “We worked as a team from the first to the final whistle and it got us the result we were looking for.
“We limited Stafford to two shots all game thanks to our hardworking midfield pair Kate Holmes and Caroline Woods who chased and battled for everything. We knew Stafford’s danger player and Caroline marked her out of the game.
“The whole team deserves a round of applause for their effort.”
A dominating first half performance by Posh failed to convert chances into goals. Defender Stacie Gross saw her 20 yard drive go agonisingly wide and her in swinging free-kick minutes later needed just a touch from Woods to give Posh the lead.
After the break, Posh continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when a Stafford defender miscued the ball and it fell to Jenny Withers who in turn picked out KJ Hilson. The 15-year-old hit an acute angle shot which the Stafford keeper parried into the goal area and substitute Jemma Rees followed in the rebound.
Rees then had a hand in the ladies next best effort when her run from the left to right found Withers and her turn and low shot hit the upright before rebounding to safety.
Posh’s second came courtesy of White after a foul on Hilson. The 16-year-old, an England Under 17 representative, bent the ball round the keeper from 20 yards to ensure a memorable win for the city side.
