Sharland’s Strikes fell Giants!

Chris Backwith  Friday, June 22, 2001  11:47 GMT

Save Chip 6 – 3 Jossy’s Giants

Another superb display this afternoon from the Chips saw them record their 3rd victory of the season.

The team was thrown into chaos in the early hours of the morning, when they learnt that they would be without their ever-present Keeper Chris Backwith, due to the fact he couldn’t be ‘arsed’ to come to work. Miggs on his day off was thrown into the breach and handled the situation impeccably.

Right from Kick off, the boys looked strong, with Sharland controlling the game, with Parsons and Morrison tracking their opponents admirably. After a number of efforts the Chips were rewarded when Sharland fired his 1st of the afternoon, into the corner from distasnce. However, Jossy’s were soon level when a poor throw out from stand-in keeper Migs was punished. Sharland restored the lead though with a superb strike, sending the keeper 1 way, dragging the ball back and finishing with his left foot.

At half time Mozza made way fro Smiffy and the Chip’s continued in the same vein. Two more from Sharland, one a fabulous strike from the half way line put the Chips 4 –1 to the good, this could have been many more as the ball kept being fired in at the opponents keeper. At this point though, Jossy’s hit back with 2 of their own, through bad defending. This proved just to an aberration though, as yet again Chippers went on the offensive, Sharland laid a ball into Smiffy, who lifted the ball over the keeper to make it 5, and the clincher from Sharland came soon after, he played a one two with Smiffy off the bar, and nipped in front of the defender to finish the game off.

Another super win, which gives Save Chip more ground on their opponents, and special mention must go to both Sharland and Miggs, who both helped secure this win.
