Sudbury Court 43 - 5 Hackney

Sudbury Crt 43 - Hackney 5

This weekend saw Hackney return to there league programme after a 5 week layoff, Hackney were heavily beaten but showed great character and pride on a pitch that resembled a bomb site. After an explosive start from Hackney things started to fizzle out due to a lack of fitness.

From the kick Hackney showed some great power play. Sudbury had no answer and failed to advance from there own 22. With the forwards churning up the park like plough's, the ball finally found its way out to the wing where Seth was ready in wait for his first try in 2 seasons. This was where the scoring ended for Hackney and it seamed to light the blue touch paper in the Sudbury camp

From the restart Hackney found themselves in there own 22 facing an onslort of phase after phase from the very organised Sudbury pack. Short pop phase and excellent back up play paid off for Sudbury throughout the game. Hackney simply had no answer, A combination of missed tackles and tactical errors, found Hackney on the backfoot all to often.

It wasn't all bad for Hackney, there were some great brakes from Matt, Roy and Phil Smith throughout the afternoon, and Hackney really contested the lineouts with both Craig and Ray winning ball against the throw Both of Hackneys impact players were brought on in the second half due to injures to Mark (Finger in eye) and Riley (Cut eye), Mickey Robberts (impact player Number 1) found himself with bags of time, built up a real head of steam for a great 5 meter run. (his longest run this season)

A very disappointing weekend for Hackney but things are looking up.
Hackney play there last league game at home on Saturday against fellow struggler’s Ware.
