Despite winning three of the four quarters, Allstars narrowly lost against a strong Pumas side. Allstars started poorly, scoring only their second basket in the final minute of the first quarter, giving Pumas a 16 – 4 advantage. A close fought second quarter meant that the half time score was 22 – 12.
Allstars opened up the second half in determined fashion, with Cathy Livock and Baerbel Woeltjen scoring 8 unanswered points. With three minutes to go of the third quarter, Allstars reduced the deficit to just two points, but Pumas then increased their lead to 6 at the break.
Allstars battled hard in the final quarter, but Pumas always had the points advantage and ran out worthy winners.
Result: RSA Allstars 35 – Crawley Pumas 40
