Godmanchester Rovers Youth (4) vs Cherry Hinton Crusaders(2)
After being one down a few minutes Neda Djohansouzi equalised for Goddy to provide a thrilling game. Chloe McDonald made an important save and in the second half Neda Djohansouzi pushed ahead to score another two goals to complete her hatrick and give her team a two goal margin. Cherry Hinton fought back to bring the result closer but Nicola Holliday scored the 4th goal to seal victory.
Under 14 Girls – Eagles
Godmanchester Rovers Youth (8) vs Aztecs (1)
Godmanchester played away again this time at Linton playing some good passing football. Aztecs played well up to half time with some stout defending and great goalkeeping. Catherine Thompson scored her first goal to open the scoring and this was complimented by Harriette Vickery to give Goddy a 2 – 0 lead at half time. Marie Lumley and Harriette Vickery scored again soon after the game resumed and Aztecs pulled one back to make it 4 – 1. This must have stirred Catherine Thompson who went on to score her second. Rosie Wilson always solid in defence was promoted to a forward position and she scored her first goal of the season. Harriette Vickery completed her hatrick and Claire Douglas completed the scoring. Aztecs to their credit as through the year never gave up.
Team: Catrina Courtman, Rosie Wilson, Perri Kean, Harriette Vickery, Caroline Lemons, Marie Lumley, Catherine Thompson, and Claire Douglas.
Under 14 Girls – Falcons
Godmanchester Rovers Youth (0) vs Cambridge United (9)
Another fixture where Godmanchester had to travel away, as pitch conditions locally would have meant postponement. Despite the scoreline, which is expected from a Team like Cambridge United, Goddy put up a good early performance and 3 – 0 at halftime was a fair result of play. Lori-ane White Goddy’s goalkeeper was voted player of the match as she and her defenders Maria Perrin, Ruth Martin and Lauren Catt cancelled out the result of some good football by Cambridge. Goddy with no substitutes knew eventually, the Cambridge team were too strong and some decisions went strangely the wrong way, most notably the last goal which was ruled a penalty after an infringement on Lori-ane White in our own area. Lauren Catt had a brilliant game doing all the simple things, she of all people wanted to stop Cambridge scoring as she is an ardent POSH fan.
Team: Lori-ane White, Maria Perrin, Ruth Martin, Lauren Catt,
Anna Martin, Sarah Storey and Sarah Morris
