Hare told he will never walk again

Steve Harland  Saturday, April 20, 2002  23:05 GMT

EXETER heat leader LAWRENCE HARE has been told he will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair according to reports on Ceefax and the official BSPA website.

The popular Ipswich-based Exeter rider crashed through the safety fence in last week's Premier Trophy match against Newport at Queensland Meadows, sustaining serious back injuries. He has broken the sixth vertebrae in his neck and has no feeling from the chest down.

Hare rode against Middlesbrough whilst appearing for Rye House and Edinburgh.

Our thoughts are with Lawrence's family at this sad time.
