MIDDLESBROUGH BOROUGH COUNCIL

Leonard Rossiter  Sunday, April 07, 2002  20:58 GMT

THE council in Middlesbrough have knocked back plans to have speedway back in the town.

A brand new greyhound stadium is going to get built but there are no plans to have speedway racing. The greyhound people have been quite easily 'bought' by members of MBC, claiming that speedway is 'dirty, noisy and smelly'. Yes, Middlesbrough Borough Council!! The greyhound people are happy with the proposals (thanks for the support, lads).

The person involved in putting the money together for the greyhound stadium has been told to forget about speedway even though he has never seen it.

However all is not lost as Redcar & Cleveland Council would consider having speedway in its locality.
