'BANGER' BACK AT BERWICK

Steve Harland  Sunday, January 27, 2002  20:03 GMT

FORMER MIDDLESBROUGH captain PAUL BENTLEY celebrates the 2002 season with a well deserved testimonial.

Bentley, a postman from Darlington, has rejoined Berwick Bandits for the new season and features in an interview in this weeks Speedway Star. He has been contracted to Coventry Bees for the past decade but only ridden breifly for them. The Bees signed him following an impressive performance in the BSPA Cup whilst riding for Middlesbrough at Brandon in 1991. Since then he has ridden for most of the northern tracks including Bradford, Middlesbrough (again), Newcastle, Berwick, Glasgow and Hull.

We hope to be able to help Paul in some way in his testimonial season. Paul made his official speedway debut in league racing at Exeter in 1988 replacing an out of touch Geoff Pusey.
