WALSHIE TO RETIRE?Steve Harland Sunday, January 27, 2002 19:58 GMT

FORMER MIDDLESBROUGH rider DAVID WALSH is considering the possibility of retiring from the sport after 19 years.
Last season he was involved in an appalling crash with Edinburgh's Jan Anderson whilst riding for Hull at Craven Park. His injuries haven't completely healed and he is still having problems with his back ruling out a return in 2002.
Walsh, from Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, rode for 'Boro during the 1996 season. He has been a loyal servant in the lower league and impressive for whoever he has ridden for including Ellesmere Port, Glasgow and Stoke.
