Wet & Wild Noosa Style

Noosa 4 Caboolture 1

Noosa beat Caboolture on a rain soaked field, which made flowing football difficult although Noosa adapted better to the conditions than their opponents. Wes Fleiter opened the scoring after some great build up play from Carl Harrison and Michael Williams. Four minutes later Carl Harrison made it two when he connected with a good cross from the right by Phil Oysten. The Lions looked in command up to this point, but the Caboolture side made a determined effort to get back in the game and showed a lot of fight coming close on a couple of occasions and finally getting one back through Alan Sinclair with forty minutes gone. Veteran Steve Luxford put paid to their efforts with a tremendous strike with a couple of minutes left in the half and Noosa went into the break 3-1 up.
It was expected that the Lions would go on with it in the second half but a good defensive effort from the visitors kept them at bay. Bouchaib Hanyn, who had replaced Carl Harrison half-way through the second period, thought he had sealed the win with ten minutes to go but was ruled offside. Wes Flieter got his second and Noosa’s fourth with three minutes to go.
Other results Noosa (Women) 0 Caboolture 2 Noosa (2nd Division) 3 Caboolture 1.
