IC chance to stetch their lead

Michael Clarke  Monday, November 05, 2001  18:57 GMT

Huddersfield Irish Centre have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table in the coming fortnight to give them a comfortable position in the league. With their nearest challengers Meltham not playing a league match until the 25th November (against IC), IC will hope to gain 3 points against the struggling sides of Linthwaite and Dodworth. Victory against the two would give IC a 9 point lead over Meltham, though playing a game more.
However, the bhoys no full well not to be complacent with the standings. Last season saw Meltham command a much more impressive lead and faulter later on in the season, and will be very eager to make IC suffer the same this term, and a victory against the bhoys, in three weeks, would bring the title race very close indeed.
