From hero to zero

John Wood  Sunday, July 01, 2001  23:56 GMT

Ian Bean had his best game of the season in goal for 55 of the 60 minutes played on Friday. He made some fine saves and looked to be the unmoveable object in the way of a Paul Cornish fc victory. But with 5 minutes to go and the score at 5 - 5 he decided to play "a cameo role" as he put it. Unfortunatly, it was the Bobby Moore role he played , but nearer to Demi Moore. He went walkabout and let 2 howlers in dispite the pleading of his whole team to stay where he was.
The score ended 7 - 5, but Ian's 5 minute maddness must hide some great performances. Craig's feet movement returned and he netted another hat trick. Paul scored with a great header to prove that the absence of bump is not going to stop him. Mark made a strong debut and Emily Stanghon finally graced PSSFC with her silky skills and of course 3 goals.
In the end we can forgive Ian his indulgence as, once again, football was the real winner.
