Mildenhall scraped victory in their Trophy clash with Carmarthen tonight by the skin of their teeth in a final heat decider.

The lead changed hands several times in an intriguing match before the last heat when the Fen Tigers needed a 3-3 to win by a point, and they did thanks to one wide corner by Matt Cross that Darren Andrews pounced on to grab the all-important third place.

The depleted Tigers struggled on a difficult circuit, only James Brundle and Darren Andrews were showing good form as captain Wayne Broadhurst struggled to get to grips with the surface.

The Dragons deserved something from the match in which they took three 5-1's and a 5-0 in the opening heat. Craig Taylor and Matt Cross were the outstanding two visitors but earned good back up throughout the team.
