Under 14's Do Lumley Proud

Mark Lumsden  Sunday, August 25, 2002  23:21 GMT

  FOREST HALL 0   V   LUMLEY 17

A magnificent team performance by our Under 14's in their first game playing together as a team saw them run out easy winners against a competitive Forest Hall team.

The first few minutes of the game saw Forest Hall start strongly and a few worried faces amongst the Lumley coaches but it wasn't long before new signing Steph playing her very first game for Lumley and Joanne Levy started to win the ball in midfield and provide chances for our in form strikers Jemma and The Hat, with our first goal coming after about five minutes we never looked back finishing the first half leading 7-0 and playing some superb attacking football.

Some changes by Forest Hall at half-time put us under pressure at the start of the second half but again our midfield started to get the better of their opposite numbers and the goals started to come thick and fast with Jemma and The Hat always causing problems and Hutchy and Gobby playing really well on the wings, providing a constant supply of good passes to our forwards.

It would be a shame not to mention our defence who also played exceptionally well with Sass again leading the back four by example and Catherine never putting a foot wrong all game, but a special mention must go to Lyndsey and Steph Clayton two players from our under 12's who stepped in because of holidays and showed how good they are,  these are wo players to watch in the future.  Clean sheet Chloe completed the team and lived up to her name with some excellent handling and showed her bravery when coming out to the feet of the strikers on a number of occasions.

The goal scorers today were :-

 Jemma Dinning - 9, Kristina 'The Hat' Minto - 4, Natalie 'Gobby' Garret - 3, Sass Unwin - 1

Well done to everybody on an excellent team performance and our thanks to Forest Hall who did play well despite the score and who's heads never dropped.
