Liverpool Crush Ipswich 5-0

Elliot Hutchinson - Cox  Saturday, May 11, 2002  21:07 GMT

This game was almost like the one at Ipswich. The only change, one goal less! Liverpool started well and went ahead when John Arne Riise barged through the defence and fired home past Andy Marshall on 13 minutes. It was Riise again on 35 minutes after Michael Owen hit the ball into the area and Riise slotted the ball past Marshall. Half Time Score - Liverpool 2 - 0 Ipswich Town. Liverpool gained an early second half goal after a mix up with Titus Bramble and Andy Marshall. Michael Owen nipped in to poke the ball over Marshall and into the net. Then Ipswich had their chances when Darren Bent headed just wide and his brother Marcus Bent had a shot saved by Jerzy Dudek. Liverpool made it four when Vladimir Smicer glided past the Ipswich defence and toe poke the ball home past Marshall. Anelka scored Liverpool`s fifth late on when Murphy played a through ball and Anelka slotted the ball past Andy Marshall. Final Score - Liverpool 5 - 0 Ipswich Town. Man of the Match - John Arne Riise.
