WIND BLOWS BUCKS INTO SECOND PLACE

Tracy Kelly  Monday, March 11, 2002  14:40 GMT

Sunday 10th March 2002

Bucks CC 7 Wendover Juniors 1

The wind was so strong my recordings of this match were barely audible on my dictaphone. The first goal was scored by Bucks 10 minutes into the first half by our resident top goal scorer Tommy Buchan. Jaymin Kassam gave us goal number two just 5 minutes later. We needed to get a good head start as we were playing into the wind and Wendover had it alot tougher than us. This didn't stop them getting their first goal about 25minutes into the first half, when goal keeper Marc Kelly misjudged a shot that he thought was going wide, but it just slide into the bottom right hand corner. Just before the half time whistle Bucks almost had a 3rd when we were given a free kick for hand ball about 30yrds out on the right wing, Jaymin Kassam took the free kick and smashed it against the bar. Half time score 2-1 to Bucks CC.

The first goal of the second half was once again scored by Bucks, who were now playing against the wind and coping extremly well, it came from a good pass from Hemal to Anthony, who played a lovely through ball to Leslie, who fired it home. 3-1. Just 1minute later Jaymin set Leslie up for his second goal after a superb pass into the area. 4-1. History repeated itself just 5 minutes later and once again Jaymin set Leslie up for his Hat Trick. 5-1. I blinked about 20 minutes into the second half and Jaymin scored giving him a well earned Brace. With about 5 minutes remaining Sheldon put himself on the score sheet after a spillage by the Wendover goal keeper. Final score 7-1 to Bucks. Man of the Match Lee Davies, for his tireless work in defence. I would like to say, that despite the terrible conditions both teams played extremly well and all credit to Wendover for not letting their heads drop. We are now in a very good position, 2nd in the table on goal difference. However, we have some very differcult matches ahead of us and Bourne End Juniors who are currently in 3rd have a game in hand, but if we all give 100% there is no reason why we shouldn't go up this year. We finished 3rd last season, and don't want to do that again. Here's hoping.
