BROOK RESUMES TRAINING

EXCLUSIVE!!!!  Monday, January 21, 2002  16:33 GMT

MICK BROOK SET TO RETURN TO SQUAD

Plant defender Mick Brook resumed full time training with the first team squad at a rainy Richard Dunn Sports Complex this morning.
Brook has been absent for nearly four months with a serious thrombosis problem, a condition which prevented him from walking at one stage and Club Officials were at one stage worried as to whether he would play again. But extensive treatment with Brekke Legg has seen Mick defy the odds and today he joined in a full training session with seemingly no ill effects.
Brekke Legg said ' Obviously the lad is very tired and will probably feel abit stiff tommorow but it was great to see him out there with the rest of the lads again.
Boss Alan Walker said 'We will see how he goes this week and won't be rushing him back, but hopefully he will be okay this week and maybe in the squad for the trip to Fox and Pheasant on Sunday.
One man missing definitely this coming weekend due to work commitments is Martin Close who would have played yesterday but for the postponement, after recovering quicker than expected from his knee injury sustained in training ten days ago. So once again Plant will be missing an experienced centre half with Close being absent and Mick Clayton is still missing due to his 'Wedding Band' commitmnents.
Keeper Andy Netts is also missing this coming Sunday again due to work commitments so either Stuart White or Ian McArdle will deputise.
