First Signing AnnouncedCharlie Mills Tuesday, July 03, 2001 22:02 GMT

Glenn Roeder has completed his first signing as manager, popular Frenchman, Sebastien Schemmel.
The 26-year-old right wing-back flew into London today to sign a new four-year contract with the Hammers. The deal represents a good bargain for the already money conscience board with the fee to believed just under the 500k mark. Schemmel should be a good squad player although personally I cant see him replacing the brilliant Trevor Sinclair.
West Ham MD Paul Aldridge says:
‘We had a good opportunity to take a close look at Seb after he arrived here in January and we’re very pleased to get him back on a permanent deal.
