PROWLERS TOO HOT FOR UNDER STRENGTH PUMAS

The Pumas suffered their 2nd loss of the 2001 Conference League campaign after a 35-55 loss against a very impressive        Sheffield Prowlers team.  It was frightening to think that the Prowlers were missing two of their top riders through other commitments.  The Pumas were also hit by the loss of two of their top riders Ian Barney through illness and Adam Pryer through injury.

Pumas replaced the ill Barney with Mark Thompson while they opted to use rider-replacements for Adam Pryer.  Thompson rode very well and scored 11+1 from 6 rides, he was supported by Chris Schramm 11(7) and by reserve James Horton(pictured) who recorded his first ever win at Conference League level.

The Prowlers who were missing Lee Hodgson and Andrew Moore  brough in impressive youngster Lee Complin at reserve and also opted to use rider-replacements.  They were lead by heat-leaders Matt Cambridge and James Birkinshaw who scored 17+1(6) and 17(6) respectively.  Cambridge looked very fast and aswell as claiming a paid maximum he recorded the fastest Conference League time of the season in heat 12.
