Rye House 52-38 Pumas

RYE HOUSE RAIDERS

52 v 38

PETERBOROUGH PUMAS

The Pumas faced one of their toughest tasks of the season on sunday and although they failed to win the meeting the bonus point is well within their reach after eventually going down 52-38.  The Pumas were without Chris Schramm who was racing for Reading in the PL 4 Team Tournament.  They used r/r for Schramm and Jason King was moved from 5 to 1.  The Pumas top scorer was Adam Pryer who looked at home on the Hoddesdon circuit, Pryer has gained experience at the Rye House track after a short stay in the Rye House PL team earlier this season.  Pryer scored 12+2 from 7 rides and was backed up by Jason King who scored 11+1 from 7 which included a Golden Double tactical sub which failed to help the Pumas when King could only managed 3rd to double his point to two, and with team-mate Pryer last it worked out a 5-2 to the Raiders.  Elsewhere in the Pumas team Shane McCabe 5 from 6 and Daniel King 6+1 from 4 both managed heat wins and both Danny Norton and James Horton scored 2 from 3 rides.
The Raiders looked like real title contenders and with Scott Courtney scoring 16 from 6, 15 year old Edward Kennett scoring 12 from 6 and 15 year old reserve Steve Boxall scoring 11+2 from 5 the Pumas never really stood a chance of gaining a win against such a strong side at home.  Rye House are a team like Peterborough who are using the CL to find new up and coming assets and this season looks like a very rewarding one for both sides because aswell as finding new stars of the future they also have the title race to look forward to and credit must go to both promotions.  The Raiders also had solid 6 point returns from Simon Wolstenholme and James Cockle.  The Raiders might have won the meeting by a bigger margin if Dan Giffard had not fell in heat 12.  The youngster scored 1 from 4 rides but aswell as an exclusion he also encountered a retirement.  The Raiders were also operating r/r for Barrie Evans who is currently on loan from Rye House to Newport.
