Latapy close to City move

BANTAMS WAIT ON LATAPY

Bradford City are heading the queue to sign former Hibernian bad boy Russell Latapy.

The Trinidad & Tobago star, who was axed by Alex McLeish before the last game of the season, is due to open discussions with Bantams boss Jim Jefferies.

Latapy, who was arrested for drink-driving and is also reported to have broken the club's booze ban, is keen to join the relegated Valley Parade club, although one of his representatives said he is still keeping his options open.

Agent Jim McArthur said: "It's up to him now whether he signs for Bradford or not. They want him and they say they're ready to discuss a deal.

"It's up to him whether he fancies it, but at the moment he is just waiting for others to come in.

"It's not a great situation for me because I'm also waiting for him to make a decision so we can get it sorted out. I always like a player to deal with one agent because everybody knows where they are.

"When others are involved you can't go and get a deal done because he's talking to another agent about other deals.

"It's a little bit frustrating for me and Jim Jefferies, but I'm in constant contact with Bradford and I'm hopeful that we can get something done.

"Jim Jefferies wants him but there could be other clubs involved. It certainly gets hard when he's dealing with various people."
