Items are pieces of content. Content can be:

To Add an Item, click on the Add Item link. This will display the Add Item page with the following fields:

Title - the name will appear in bold, black if the item type is left as None or a bold, blue hyperlink if the Item Type is URL, Page or File

Date – the published date and time of the content. This will default to the current date and time, but any date can be selected. For forward dated items in News categories, the content will only appear after that date has passed. For Events, past dated content will not display by default.

Category – the category to which this item belongs

Item Type - select the type of content you want to add - if you leave it as None, enter your text in the Item Description or use the Page Editor to create richly formatted web content. [URL / Page / File] - these are explained in more detail below

Selecting either 'New Window' or 'This Window' will determine whether the new window will replace your site in the browser window if it is opened - requiring your visitor to use the back page button or re-enter your URL to return to your site. It is recommended that you always click on the New Window option.

Item content - you can enter plain text to describe your content, create richly formatted web content with the  Page Editor, or, if your Item is a link you can leave this field blank

Items will be listed in time, date and alphabetical order (not the order in which you add them).

Tips

If you want to ensure Items appear in a particular order (but not alphabetically) start the Item Name with a number.

To create an on-line Product Catalogue, upload photos of your products to your web site and use the  Page Editor to create a list of items with product descriptions, prices, availability etc. - and even an email order facility (using the mailto: link feature).

Make links to other web sites appear in new windows so that your visitors do not leave your site.
