Congratulations to 'Our Lee' Baxter, younger brother of Backo and his missus Claire who gave birth to Scarlett Alicia this morning (Friday). The young un weighed in at 8lb 1oz
Our Lee had an all too brief spell with Boots before suffering a bad injury. He still plays Sundays and whenever he comes down to watch Boots he has the craic as ever, displaying the legendary Baxter wit and repartit!
Well done mate and good luck for the future to you all
The planning for 2008/09 is underway!
Pre season training starts on Tuesday 1st July, with a home friendly against Attenborough on July 8th. On the 12th we play Siemens with CML newcomers Kirkby Town, managed by former Southwell boss Brett Marshall, coming to us on 2nd August as we look to build on our 4th place finish last season
So that's it then. 2007/08 draws to a close with 19 games in 5 most enjoyable weeks and a highest ever NSL finish. Promising young players abound and we look forward to next season. A number of proper players (lads with NSL winners medals) are being spoken to after expressing an interest in coming so if you're one of the lads 'keeping options open' for next season then the advice is not to keep em open too long or else someone else will be signed to play in your position!
The end of season do is on Friday 23rd May at The Castle Inn, Castle Road (opposite Robin Hood statue) and managers will be in touch soon re ticket requirements
Training starts on Tuesday 1st July at TVR with the first friendly arranged against Attenborough on July 8th
The last two games were eventful. Hollywood Whatnall scored one of the quickest goals in NSL history as Gav Rees tapped the kick off to him and he leathered it over the Underwood keeper's head. This was the first of three for Hollywood who has finished the season on 16. Wayne Jones got the other goal in an excellent win for the 2nds
On Saturday, Whistler's side went down 3 - 2 against cup finalists Wollaton 2nds but deserved something form an excellent game having come down from 2 - 0 down at half time. Whis changed things at half time and the alteration to formation was key. Hollywood and Dave Lodge got the goals and we went down to a late pen having had two equally good claims turned down. It was very hot indeed so let's not look into it too deeply other than to say thanks for the efforts from the boys, many of whom have played three times a week for six weeks
Enjoy the summer folks- it'll soon be July!
